What Day Is It Anyway? September Edition

I know what you're thinking… Damaly forgot about her September issue of WDIIA (What Day is it anyway?) and you are….not entirely right. OK.

September has been one of those months that was filled with moments. I’m sure you know exactly what I mean when I say that if you’ve been paying attention to social media and current events.

So yes, there's been a lot of moments of mourning and sadness but I can’t say it’s been all doom and gloom.

I am back to work and it feels like there was no transition period haha. I went from tons of extra time to chill under the covers watching Girlfriends to shooting 3 sessions back to back in one week.

After the hiatus I will not complain.

So yes WDIIA did take a backseat to reacclimating myself to my business but I definitely thought about it almost every day.

I’m in Rachel Rodger’s We Should All Be Millionaires and a big part of the course is getting to know your strengths by using Strengths finder. (I’m all about the tests to better understand myself.) I mention this to make what I said make sense.

I thought about what I wanted to say almost every single day.

My top strengths are Empathy (surprise, surprise) , Futuristic and Influencer.

This shows up for me in the form of analyzing everything and dreaming up ideas all day every day.

Notice execute is not in those strengths so the pen never exactly made it to the paper up until the wire.

Today I added some new members to my team who will help me execute and create more space for me to sit my butt in the chair and continue to put my pen to the paper.

Moral of the story: Know your strengths, and hire out for your weaknesses.

Now if you’re on my list getting photos of yourself that feel natural or fun or show you as the expert you know you are may not be your biggest strength. But you can hire out for that too.

This month I’ve had the pleasure of getting some pretty beautiful reviews before I even got home from the session. From the session being the shake needed to feel great about themselves to being reminded of the Queen they were, hopping in front of my camera is easily becoming a respite from this crazy ass world.

So I’m going to be a bit bolder than usual and ask, did you want to have a photoshoot with me in 2020? Ok do you NEED to book a photoshoot with me this year? (You know who you are?)

Stop playing and schedule some time to talk about what we can create together.

A few of my favorite things - September edition

  1. I love watching Ashley K. work it out on her saxophone. I get lost in it every time.

  2. Check out me and some of my clients from this month.

  3. Team Shout-out: Did you know that your true nude is the shade of your nipple? 😂 I learned this fun fact from my hair and makeup stylist Kinshasa and she is partially responsible (also give it up to God and their mama’s)  for most of the beautiful faces you see in my portfolio. This fall she’s teaching personal makeup classes over Zoom and if you’ve had the chance to spend anytime with her you’ll leave with a few tips and tricks to up-level your game. Many of my clients have had these sessions in preparation of their sessions instead of in-person application and have raved about how fun and easy she made applying their makeup to be. Trust me this is value packed, confidence boosting and feel yourself inducing. (By the way, I am not an affiliate or receiving any type of monetary compensation for saying this. I’m just an honest fan and supporter)

Correction and random fact about me. I sometimes latch onto words and am unable to let them go. Sometimes meaning I swap names of things or am unable to get to the right word on demand. This showed up in last month's WDIIA which was titled September.

Alright friends, since I’m working on Execution in October expect to hear from me more than once. Cause I’m getting myself together. 💃🏿

I hope that good news for you and if not you are of course welcome to unsubscribe tho I’d be bummed to see you go.

Anyone else crossing their fingers with me in hopes that we can end Q4 of 2020 on a good note?

I’ll let you know.
